Behind The Power:
Tammie Carrier, Panel Wire Assembler

Using engineering expertise for precise assembly
Tammie Carrier loves the variety inherent in panel wiring, as she tackles everything from remote boxes to seven-foot panels in a role that demands accuracy and problem-solving. Using her engineering background and design experience, Tammie helps improve our assembly process and ensures Dynapower’s leading-edge technologies function flawlessly.
Q: What do you like best about your job?
A: I do something different all the time. I wire panels, but they’re all different. Right now, I’m working on remotes, which are just small boxes, but sometimes the panels I wire can be seven feet tall. Depending on the size and complexity of them, the job can take several days to several weeks.
Q: How would you describe the company culture in three words?
A: It’s different. And there’s a lot of teamwork, especially in my area. I work in a small group. There are only four of us in my department, so we all work together, and it’s fun.
Q: In what ways do you influence the quality of the products here at Dynapower?
A: Pretty directly. Not only do I follow the mechanical and electrical schematics, but if I find a problem with something, I will show the engineers and say, “No, it should be this way.” And often I’m right (I have an engineering background). If it’s not perfect, the whole thing won’t work, so we have to inspect our work to make sure we did it right and according to the drawings.
Q: What is something innovative about Dynapower?
A: Our products are all leading-edge technology, and we’re helping to produce clean energy in the most efficient way we can.
Q: What are some ways that you continue learning in your field?
A: I learn every time we have something new that comes down the line—and we never know what’s coming down the line. It could be a small panel that has four components on it, or a seven-foot wall that has 300 components on it. Sometimes they’re brand-new components that we’ve never worked with before. I’ve had to take components apart to make them work, because they were older components I had never worked with before.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: I like to spend time with my friends and hang out with my dog, Grayson. He’s a Pug/Boxer mix. Every once in a while, my best friend and I like to go to a Paint n’ Sip.
