Q: What do you like best about your job?
A: Working with the team. Even the technical aspect of what we do is pretty challenging. So, I think what brings me to work every day is the people, working with them, and watching them grow. I really believe what drives this company is the teamwork and the people. We have some really, really smart individuals here, and we have a lot of people who multi-task daily, including myself, to get products out the door.
Q: How would you describe the company culture in three words?
A: It’s positive, engaging, and challenging.
Q: In what ways do you influence the quality of the products here at Dynapower?
A: I’m very, very picky. Quality has always been a strong suit of mine. Everybody picks on me because of how precise I am and how I pick things apart, but that’s one of my best attributes. I think I inspire that in them, too, and now they look at quality the same way I do.
Q: What is something you do in your job that is innovative?
A: Training is a big one here, and it’s something that we’ve been really focusing on. Our JBS program—job breakdown sheets— is an innovative way that we break down individual tasks with work instructions. We have senior people training new hires using the JBS, and it helps people learn quickly. And it’s more than just hands-on training. It also builds in standards for the product lines. The JBS is very vast, so if somebody’s working on something different, they can always go to the JBS to learn this task better.
Q: What are some ways that you continue learning in your field?
A: I’m learning a lot about people. I started on the floor as a worker, then became a team lead. Once you become a supervisor, there’s a lot of learning about how to guide people. You’re not just looking at the product line anymore, you’re really looking at the individuals and giving them what they need so they can succeed in their jobs.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: I like to hunt and play sports. I’m a deer hunter, and I like to be outdoors. I’ve been all over the United States, but my favorite place to hunt is Wyoming.
